An Ode to a toad, Who really was out of mode, Never did he follow the code, Green all the other are, But he is mauve, And in the right light, He really glows.
In Texas, the toads we see are usually flat. Here is a Texas version: ODE TO A TOAD Oh dirty flattened little toad Why did you try to cross the road? Why did you not preceive the truck That was to be your worst bad luck? You gathered for a mighty jump, The driver never felt the bump Across your back I see the tread Oh little toad, you sure are dead! wayne@familypoet.com www.familypoet.com
